A Friend

Image
Featured image: Friends a friend what is it that makes  you  call them friend? Exchanging sharing unconditional love unconditional trust forgiveness judgment. Caring for them when they are in danger. It is the space you give them to be  themselves  it is the enjoying every moment of who they are. It is the laughter you share together and the tears, It is the knowing  what they are going to say before they say it. It is these many things that make you call someone a friend. But most of all it is the sharing of each other’s lives and trusting caring.

“Zephyr Winds” Selected as Finalist

Image
Featured image: Zephyr Winds “Zephyr Wind” 16x16 Various watercolors on 300# Arches paper Christine Alfery’s work “Zephyr Winds”  was selected as a finalist in the International Splash 25: Best of Watercolor, a ArtistNetwork publication.  Christine’s Statement for Splash 25. break of day a zephyr wind bringing morning light and early spring breezes. I feel its gentle caress I breathe deeply contently and say to myself, it is great to be alive. Watercolors are such a perfect match for me and who I am because watercolors are spontaneous and lend themselves very nicely to gestural brush strokes and instant gratification, like the prize in a McDonald's “Happy Meal.”  My artwork is all about the earth, and the stories the earth keeps. Stories about an individual's journey throughout time and the footprints they have left for us to discover and learn from. Stories about their lives, and how they figured things out, and then in turn, how we figure and learn things out an...

I have been absolutely fascinated...

Image
I have been absolutely fascinated with the French philosopher Michael Foucault and the Surrealist painter Rene Magrittee.  These two men had a wonderful exchange about a work Magrittee painted called: This is Not A Pipe.  I frequently return and reread the exchange because it is all about reality and just is reality.  A topic that has fascinated me before the movie “The Matrix” but when The Matrix made visible what philosopher’s have been debating for a long time and still are. This morning I came across the writer Sol LeWill – I have come across is writing frequently but this little saying he wrote hit the nail on the head for me.  Obviously a drawing of a person Is not a real person, but the drawing Of a line is a real line.

Abstraction

Image
Featured image: White Road- A Creative's Journey There must always be a beginning, and the beginning is quite abstract. Abstraction begins the journey to imagination and creativity. Imagination and Creativity lead to conceptualism and theory.  Thus the journey begins.

Feeling Connected to Everything
