I am at rest

if
we allow it
to be
self forever
infinite

I feel its gentle caress
I breathe deeply

and say to myself, it is
great to be alive.
Watercolors are such a perfect match for me and who I am because watercolors are spontaneous and lend themselves very nicely to gestural brush strokes and instant gratification, like the prize in a McDonald's “Happy Meal.”
My artwork is all about the earth, and the stories the earth keeps. Stories about an individual's journey throughout time and the footprints they have left for us to discover and learn from. Stories about their lives, and how they figured things out, and then in turn, how we figure and learn things out and carry them forward.

I have been absolutely fascinated with the French philosopher Michael Foucault and the Surrealist painter Rene Magrittee. These two men had a wonderful exchange about a work Magrittee painted called: This is Not A Pipe.
I frequently return and reread the exchange because it is all about reality and just is reality. A topic that has fascinated me before the movie “The Matrix” but when The Matrix made visible what philosopher’s have been debating for a long time and still are.
This morning I came across the writer Sol LeWill – I have come across is writing frequently but this little saying he wrote hit the nail on the head for me.

To find you - you need to dig deeply. Do you know who you are? Not the reflection in the mirror, not what others say you are.
Your uniqueness, your choices, experience. The path to self is narrow. The journey is hard. It takes a long time.
You are worth it. Find yourself. Honor your - self, spirit and soul. Honor the gypsy in you.
My work, Her Gypsy Spirit, along with many others will be featured during my solo exhibition, Allegories from the Earth.
Exhibition Details:
Venue: New Visions Gallery
Address: Marshfield Clinic Marshfield, Marshfield, WI
Dates: January 14 - March 15, 2024

Being an artist, Creating pretty much
Comes down To: Everything should
Change during the Process
And, you should feel that Everything is
Connected
If you don’t feel That as an artist when you are
Creating then you
aren’t in the work. And the work isn’t yours
But someone else’s.
